Close Encounters

It can be a strange thing to revisit your childhood. Scary even. Particularly when films are concerned. I had the opportunity to do just that at QUAD, our local arts Cinema in Derby the other evening, when they presented Close Encounters of the Third Kind on the big screen.

I need not have worried though. Just as captivating to a slightly world weary 48 year old as it was to the wide eyed 8 year old who saw first time around. How Steven Spielberg did it, making a movie with such a broad appeal, I shall never know. But then, that is why he is the Oscar winning film maker, and the rest of us are not.
